“An extraordinary taste of tranquility” Reviewed August 4, 2011
In pursuit of a two-day escape from the mid-life grind, my wife and I were recommended this Spa Retreat as an alternative wedding anniversary hideaway. Beyond a fairly beguiling website, we had very loose preconceptions as how this would unravel upon arrival, but after being presented with the key to the spacious (almost Scandinavian) stylings of our accommodation, found it inescapably charming.
As outlined in some of the other reviews, there are three sets of sleeping quarters and one ample communal room for food preparation. With very little desire of my own to mix with people while bursting out of a tiny bathrobe, I would have automatically found this notion to be unpleasant, but the low number of other guests coupled with the beautifully sculpted surroundings make this an escapist's dream. The large outdoor furniture (and the distance from the main road) made for a wonderful place to enjoy a peaceful meal or simply several hours of careless woolgathering.
The staff are both friendly and unintrusive, at no time making us feel that we were merely customers. Their recommendations of the treatments that were on offer was well informed and the complete absence of a hard sell was a welcome turnaround from cynical expectations.
The pool was large and enticing enough to draw me into it after 15 years of swimwear shyness, catering for both the crippling amateur like myself and the more hardened lane swimmer like my wife. The allure of both the jacuzzi and the hot tub lead me to underscore that the simple lack of pressure and bustle was enormously appealing.
In contrast to some of the underwhelming reviews, I have no hesitation in recommending this Spa Retreat. At risk of sounding like a cliche, we did love it and we will be back.
My sister and I have just come back from the most relaxing experience ever. We arrived at waterwynch spa and as soon as we got there, we felt relaxed. Andrea the owner was very welcoming and very helpful at all times, nothing was a problem. Vicki the therapist was also very warming and gave us lovley treatments. The facilities were very clean, well laid out and not busy. The cabin was cosy, clean and comfy. The staff there were so friendly and helpful. One thing did enjoy most of all, there is no routine, do what you want, go where you want, unlike reality when we all have some kind of routine in our lives. That's what we call absolutey bliss. Thanks Andrea and all staff for making our time bliss, money well spent. Can't wait to come back soon . Cat and caz. Stayed July 2011

We really enjoyed our stay at the spa retreat. It was very peaceful and quiet and we left feeling very relaxed and content. The Spa facilities are fantastic and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The food at the local pub was great too and there was plenty to do in and around the retreat. We will definitely be going back again!
